The first smartphone as we know it today was released in 2007, it was the first iPhone. No one would guess how big of a part of our everyday lives that device would become.
We are constantly looking down on our little screens; reading, watching, sharing, playing, messaging, commenting and so on everyday!
We panic when our phone battery dies, or when we forget it at home. It’s like a part of us literally, we can’t be apart from each other.
Although it’s a positive thing that we have instant access to all this information, we are in touch with all the people we want to interact with and we get all the help we need from those devices, there are also some negative effects that slowly show themselves in our modern society.
Smartphones: Stress of being always on and reachable, constant flow of information and notifications, damage on time management, prevention from more social and meaningful activities.
Smartphone cameras: Triggers narcissism and hunger for likes/online validation, prevents living the moment by encouraging/prioritizing “sharing online”.
Social media: Spreads misinformation, being used to manipulate people’s opinions (even the elections), cyber bullying, setting up unrealistic beauty and life standards.
POLL: Which one has the most negative impact on human/personal development?
